Gerard Henderson

Gerard Henderson is the founder and managing editor of Henderson News and Media.

He is a multi-award winning former regional newspaper editor and national newspaper journalist with a wealth of experience both in print and online.

During his career he has covered major news events, including Hillsborough and the Lockerbie air crash and has travelled extensively, filing stories from the Falkland Islands, East Africa and Asia.

His investigative work has ranged from a series of articles on the devastating effects of asbestos on the health of communities in the north of England to an expose of the drugs trade on Merseyside.

His awards include being named UK Industrial Journalist of the Year for his incisive work covering business for the Manchester Evening News.

As a campaigning daily newspaper editor in Lancashire and the North East Gerard won plaudits and more awards for his support for the communities his newspapers served.

When editor of The Gazette in Blackpool he launched a major debate on the future of its leisure and tourism sector and campaigned for investment and regeneration in the town.

During his time as editor of The Journal in Newcastle he launched its award-winning Northern Business platform and Vision – a publication highlighting the region’s economic success stories. He also played an active role in the city’s Capital of Culture bid.

He has worked for a number of national newspapers and has written and reported extensively on international and UK business matters for publications including the Sunday Express. Gerard was also in charge of Express Newspapers’ northern production operation.

He has extensive experience working with PR companies to deliver solutions for their clients, gaining them exposure nationally and internationally.

And he is also in demand from media organisations looking for his help and advice in developing new products and strategies.

When not at work Gerard can be found at Deepdale, giving his vocal support to Preston North End.
